Exciting Times at Emperor Accounting!

by Christina on June 20, 2015

As a trusted advisor to numerous small business owners, I struggle with the same challenges as many of my clients.  Do I have enough business?  Too much? (I realize that’s a GOOD problem to have.)  Where is the business headed?  What technology solutions do I want to employ?  The list is endless.  For the past few months I have been reviewing my service offerings, deciding what I want to add and what it will take to get there.  On the short list are Xero consulting and bookkeeping services and finally earning an Enrolled Agent (EA) designation.  Xero means mastering an alternate cloud accounting technology and identifying clients in that space.  An EA designation means passing three different taxation exams and much time spent studying along the way.

So what does this mean?  Quite simply, I have to accept that I can no longer do everything myself.  I was approached by a business colleague a while ago who wanted to see if I could use her assistance with my QuickBooks bookkeeping clients. We finally spoke last Friday, and since agreeing to test the waters, I have had five new client opportunities present themselves in the past week.  So it seems that the adage, “If you build it, they will come” holds true in my own personal ‘Field of Dreams.’  We will start working together later this morning and I am excited for the opportunity to grow the business.

by cmac2287 on January 21, 2013

Small business owners typically wear many hats in their organization.  One area that demands more attention is social media.    The questions I often hear are”Where do I start” and “What’s the point?” I came across a terrific infographic from Intuit and thought I would share.  It provides a monthly roadmap to help identify weaknesses, establish and monitor goals, measure success, coordinate activity and build brand awareness.  What are you doing to leverage social media for your business?

QuickBooks Keyboard Shortcuts

July 20, 2012

Charlie Russell posted a recent article about the useful keyboard shortcuts for QuickBooks. I am a big fan of keyboard shortcuts because they save time by keeping your hands in one place (as opposed to switching between the keyboard and mouse.) I received a list from QB many years ago and compared it to the […]

I recently learned about Wave Accounting’s free software.  It can be used to manage both business and personal expenses and is far more robust than one would expect from something free.  I am now a member of their Pro Network and will look for opportunities to help more small business owners manage and grow their […]

After several false starts, I am finally ready to tell the world to take a look at my site.  I have been busy making changes to the layout and content, and like most things in life, it’s still a work in progress.  However, it’s time to take the plunge and notify friends and family to […]

Pardon the Interruption

June 15, 2011

So after getting off to a decent start, I dropped out of the blogosphere for a brief period of time. However, thanks to some help from my trusty reference guide and a very helpful blogger brother, I am back in action. I just successfully converted a url link to a more user/reader friendly link. Success! […]

New Pages Added

May 27, 2011

I have added a couple of new pages for the Emperor Accounting site.  It’s still a work in progress but now it looks like I have something to say, and business services to offer.  I need to add social media links for Facebook and Linked In (and work on the corporate presence for each site.)  […]
